It is very hot in Scotland just now more than usual. I think there is a heat wave but don't know where it is coming from. I don't like it above 60 degreese but I suppose that is because the brittish are not used to this weather. I just wonderded what everyone else thinks of the weather. It is in the 80s here and is to get hotter tomorrow.

Oh trust me you probably wouldn't like where I live. Which is TX and it's like 108 degrees which is considered dangerously high over here. I'm hoping we get a good rain soon because all the plants can't handle this kind of heat and are all dying. Hey I'd love to have that 80 degree weather again.

It is very, very hot here too. I saw on the weather channel, that it is extremely hot all over the world, and in most places, it is hotter than normal. A lot of places are breaking records. The reasoning behind it all is because of global warming.

We are braking records in Scotland. Hopefully I will sleep better tonight.

Well in my neck of the woods or country I should say. We've been under an excessive heat watch for days, then recently we were issued a warning due to all the extreme heat were having.

Were also under a burn ban advisory. A burn ban advisory meaning we can't have camp fires, cook offs, or what not. We've been seeing alot of wild fires around here to outside of twon. I think we had around 10 to 12 wild fires in this last couple of weeks. It's just terrible i teel ya, we NEED rain bad.

Yesterday the mercury peaked at a record breaking 97 in Surrey england, and Scotland was not much cooler, easily 90. I've experienced this kind of heat in Milan where it was a stunning 105, and I spent most of the time in the pool...the heatwave is coming from Europe and we are awaiting thunder here.

*curls up in front of the heater*
It's cold here in the blue mountains in australia, and i've just spent the week in the southern highlands which is even colder than here.
Just thought you'd like the comparrison.

although as many of you have said it has been much hotter here in the states and Texas. The one thing your forgetting is, the Britt's are not spoiled like we are. They aren't used to it, so they have no air conditioner. I shouldn't say no, some do but it's just not as common as around here. I say this as I'm chilling in myair getting ready to dip in the pool. hehehehe smiles. heheheh Shea

That's right we don't have aircondishoners in the UK. We just have a fan which doesn't help much it just blows cool air. Tonight is a lot cooler 55 c. Yes I believe it will be cold in Australia. It is your winter isn't it?

Post 11 by Perestroika (Her Swissness) on Friday, 21-Jul-2006 1:18:24

It's our winter yes. and we had snow not all that long ago.

I think with this heatwave dragging on that AC should be available to everyone, and not just to those lucky enough to afford it,try keeping 2 dogs and 2 toddlers cool in nearly 90 it's murder.

Goblin, I know how it is to try and keep animals well cooled. We have nine dogs and two cats, and we definitely have to look after them in this heat. We used to live in Nevada, where the temperatures were normally somewhere in the hundreds, so to a certain extent I'm alittle used to it, but on the otherhand, here in tennessee, we not only have to deal with the above average temperatures, but also humidity. In Nevada, the high temperatures were tolerable, because it was dry heat. There wasn't any humidity, so as everyone can guess, it is different. I feel for those who aren't lucky enough to have air conditioning. I know that that is something that many people take for granted, and my heart goes out to those who dont' have it.

In certain parts of the US the temperature was 46c, they were hosing down the bald eagles at the zoo, fine but what about the people...it's really humid here, and we are gagging for a rip roaring thunderstorm. How do you cool down the pets we hose them, or let them swim /paddle in the river. Andy a tabby is part fishing cat, a rare wild species, so he has a natural affinity with water, even Morticia a sun worshiper is in for a paddle.

well its been hot and humid here in north carolina, but i think its a bit better today. Thunderstorms aren't what they use to be a long time ago. You use to be able to tell when you were going to have a storm, and when it was gone, because it would start way off, giving a muttering rumble, then gradually get closer, then gradually get lower til it went away. Now, you hear a little rumble, and wait til it gets louder, but after a while, when it doesn't get louder, you think well, its not coming. Then when you least expect it, boom! it just pops out on you all of a sudden, nearly deafening you. It wouldn't be too bad, but it seems to happen when i turn the computer on, ande turning the computer off, restarting it and shutting down gets to be a pain. That happened to me one night a few weeks ago, and after the third time, i just got tired of it and didn't turn the computer back on that night. I like temps in the mid 70's or low 80's.

I know storms arn't what they use to be. Now storms are almost always severe, from when I was little it use to be just a light thunder shower to a moderate rain, but now severe storms are the game. As for airconditioning, I love it! Here in our apartment complex if it goes out 85 degrees or above then you can make it an emergency request to get it fixed.

Well, I think it's just as important for us to keep our animals cooled off, just as it is for us to keep ourselves cooled off. We have air conditioning, so that helps a lot. My two cats are indoor cats, so they don't go out at all. When the dogs are outside, we have a huge doghouse like thing, that they go in, and that keeps them cool. we also have a huge thing we use for water, and we also freeze a big block of ice to put in the dog's water. It helps a lot. when we lived in Nevada, we also had one of those baby pools for the dogs, so that they could take a little dip. We had a real big pool for the humans, but the dogs couldn't go in that one, because the dog hair would clog up the drains, filters, etc.

Sounds good lucky pets smile. I watched the bike race from Laguna Seca on sunday. The track temperature was 68c the ambient air temperature was close to 40, and the tarmac was melting, it's a miracle that no one was killed.

Well now that it's autumn here in the states and we are moving toward winter, I envy those on the other side of the world who are experiencing spring. Spring is my favorite season. If I could afford it, I would have several homes so that I could follow the nice weather.

I see a lot of people complain about their cold weather. Where I am, (florida,) its 80 degrees all the time, it seems and I get really tired of it. I can't wait until the temp gets about 65 to 70 degrees F. That would be totally awesome! Or better yet, it needs to snow.
